ANASTASIA ANANYEVA: THE ROAD TO SUCCESS IN CANOE SLALOM

International Master of Sport Anastasia Ananyeva is a vivid example of how determination, hard work, and passion for one’s craft lead to outstanding results.

Her journey in canoe slalom began in 2017, when, at just thirteen years old, she decided to dedicate her life to this challenging yet captivating sport. At that time, she made a pivotal decision—to transfer to a specialized sports school in order to fully commit herself to training and professional development.

Anastasia chose canoeing as her main discipline. Just two years later, in 2019, she achieved her first major victory—winning the Kazakhstan Championship among athletes under 16. This marked a significant milestone on her path to greater sporting achievements.

Since 2021, Anastasia has been a member of Kazakhstan’s national canoe slalom team. From that point on, she has regularly represented her country at international competitions, consistently demonstrating a high level of skill and remaining one of the strongest athletes on the team. According to Anastasia, canoe slalom is a fascinating and multifaceted sport that engages nearly all of a person’s physical qualities: strength, endurance, coordination, balance, and reaction. “Each of these skills takes years of effort to master in order to feel confident on the water,” she notes. In the early years, she faced many fears, including a fear of water and capsizing. Overcoming these fears took nearly four years of intense work and constant practice. Gradually, fear gave way to excitement and genuine interest, and training began to bring more enjoyment, even as the physical demands continued to grow.

Today, Anastasia continues to improve alongside her team and coaches, striving for new achievements. She emphasizes that the support of her mentors and friends plays a major role in her success, and she is deeply grateful to them.

One of the phrases that inspires Anastasia on this journey is: “Where there is fear, there is growth.” This is her personal motto, reflecting the essence of athletic resilience. In her view, it is the difficult path that leads to the greatest results—and she proves this through her own example.
