SECTION "FACTS ABOUT SPORTS": ROWING
Rowing has a long history that began in Great Britain in the early 19th century. This sport became popular at the university level, especially at Oxford and Cambridge, where the first official rowing races were held.
Rowing was first included in the Olympic Games program in 1900. Today, it remains one of the most popular water sports at the Olympics and is part of the Games program for both men and women.
In rowing, there are several boat classes, including singles (1x), doubles (2x), fours (4x), and eights (8+), which can be either with oars (sculls) or without.
This discipline remains one of the most prestigious sports and continues to attract attention from both spectators and athletes around the world.
The Olympic Training Center "Astana" is home to 35 athletes who actively participate in international competitions. These athletes achieve high results, earning podium positions at various championships and tournaments, which helps strengthen Kazakhstan's sports reputation on the global stage.
