The XVI Asian Shooting Championship has started in Shymkent. The competition will run from August 16 to 30. More than 800 athletes from 26 countries are taking part in the championship. Over 700 medals will be awarded during the tournament.

In rifle and pistol shooting, athletes are competing in the following events:

10m air pistol,
25m and 50m pistol,
10m and 50m rifle,
running target — in both individual and team events.

In shotgun shooting, the disciplines include:

trap,
skeet,
skeet mixed team,
trap mixed team,
double trap — also in both individual and team events.
