MY SPORTS STORY — MAXIM POCHIVALOV
Maxim Pochivalov is an athlete of the Olympic Training Center "Astana", a Master of Sport of the Republic of Kazakhstan in trap shooting, and a member of the national team. He is only 15 years old, yet he began his sporting journey at the age of 8.
Maxim’s father played a major role in choosing his path. It was he who first brought his son to the shooting range. The first shots were fired from an air rifle, and since then, trap shooting has captivated the young athlete seriously and for the long term.
The road to high achievements was not easy. The most challenging moment came when working to meet the standard for the title of Master of Sport. After several unsuccessful attempts, Maxim experienced emotional burnout and had to take a one-month break. The return was tough — motivation had dropped, and it took a long time to get used to a new weapon. However, Maxim did not give up — he analyzed his mistakes, worked on his technique, and gradually regained his form.
One of his most significant accomplishments was achieving the standard for the title of International Master of Sport — a goal he had aspired to from the very beginning, and one that he was able to reach. This success was especially joyful for his family, particularly his father, who was always by his side and supported Maxim at every stage.
Maxim recently proved his competitiveness on the international stage — at the prestigious Green Cup in Italy, he took first place, becoming the best among participants from all over the world.
Today, Maxim trains under the guidance of two coaches who help him grow and refine his technique. Technical precision, accurate movements, and the ability to maintain focus are the key factors of success in trap shooting. Thanks to his daily dedication and hard work, this talented athlete continues to move forward with confidence.
Maxim is supported by his family, friends, coaches, and teammates. But it is his father who plays an especially important role in his life — not only as a mentor, but also as his biggest fan, friend, and pillar of support. During the recent youth games, he closely followed every one of his son's performances, feeling every moment deeply and proudly celebrating every shot.
Maxim's ultimate dream is to represent Kazakhstan with honor at the World Championship and, in the future, to compete in the Olympic Games. He knows that the road to the top requires complete dedication, discipline, and hard work — and he is ready to follow that path all the way.
